Scope of Works
An architectural practice in Clerkenwell, Civic Arts, under the influence of the ever so dynamic Eric Kuhne who was responsible for the concept design of Bluewater shopping centre in Kent, provided us with the brief to achieve a 'warehouse style' office interior.
Never was the saying 'to make a silk purse out of a sows ear' more applicable to this space. Formally a bland non descript 70's office, Crisp took the building's space back to the structural walls & ceiling, by removing existing floors, suspended ceiling and stud partitions.
Eric's collection of paraphernalia was displayed in bespoke cherry cabinets which segregated project teams without isolating them. Simple fluorescent lights were concealed upon the top of the cabinets providing subtle ambient light. A central library 'spine' through the office acted as an area of reference and break out space with old worn leather sofas adding to the over all warehouse style.
